Solar Pool Heating

October 10, 2011
If you are lucky and have never paid to heat a pool with a conventional gas or electric pool heater than you may be shocked at how high the costs can be. They can easily run up to several hundred dollars a month, which is why so many people are now looking into solar powered pool heaters.

The governments of some countries and states have incentive schemes in place to subsidise and reward people who convert to solar energy in an attempt to save the negative impact on the world, so check on this first.

Although the initial expense of installing a solar pool heater is rather high, the long term savings are considerable. In fact, because of this new trend, the prices of some gas and electric pool heaters have dropped, but don’t be fooled – think long term.

Even a “cheap” solar pool heater, that you can rig up and install yourself, is going to cost you quite a bit in the long run. This is because they require so much space and piping to actually function properly. Remember that if you are going to go through the trouble and expense, you want it to make a difference, so go for a known brand from a reputable dealer.

Unfortunately they don’t look very appealing. They normally sit on the roof and can be easily seen from some distance away. Installing a small and compact solar powered pool heater system, just to hide it from view is just a waste of time and money. Simply put, on even the warmest day, you just won't notice any worthwhile effect.

What this means is that you are going to need quite a bit of space to set up an adequate functioning solar pool heater and you can’t really hide the solar panels. The best place to install one is on the roof of a building. It is up high and out of the way and will get maximum sun exposure.

Get a professional who knows how to install solar pool heaters on roofs to do the job for you.
Trying to do it yourself is more than likely going to result in you being left with a damaged roof, a system that will probably give you nothing but trouble, a sore back and an inadequate system!

Fortunately there are now complete, factory manufactured solar pool heater systems now on the market that will deliver maximum effect with minimum problems. While at it, consider a bigger model to take care of the hot water needs in the house too.

If you are a capable person and would like to build your own solar heater, then read this book on How To Build A Solar Water Heater. You can easily build your own Solar Water Heater and save up to 33% off your electric bill every month, while helping the environment. Copy this link and paste it in your browser:

Solar Energy As A Viable Alternative Energy Source

July 19, 2010
Photovoltaic cells are those black squares on a solar panel. These have been the most expensive parts of a solar panel, making solar panels beyond the reach of most folks, but now at last, the prices have recently dropped, making solar panels a more affordable means of alternative energy.

These cells are not only becoming less expensive, but also more efficient, thanks to increasingly better designs, which allow them to focus the gathered sunlight on a more and more concentrated point.

Ways In Which The Military is Using Alternative Energy

February 14, 2010
The US military knows that its branches must revamp their thinking about how to engage in “the theater of war” in the new, post Cold War world of the 21st century. One thing that the military leaders stress is the desire for the forces deployed in far away places, to be able to be more energy-independent.

Currently, the US military has policies and procedures in place, to interact with allies or sympathetic local populations, to help its forces in the field get their much needed energy an...
